Sustainability Coordinator
The City of Tarpon Springs is seeking a Sustainability Coordinator to manage and implement the city-wide Sustainability Program. This position is responsible for Sustainability initiatives throughout the City government, and will work closely with City departments, citizens, and local policy makers to achieve the Citys long term sustainability goals. The City adopted its first-ever Sustainability Plan in 2023, and is looking for a sustainability professional with excellent communication, organization, and technical skills to lead our City to a more sustainable future.PLEASE You must complete the Citys PDF job application to be considered for this position. A complete job description for this position, and applications can be obtained online The ideal candidate for this position will have a firm background in the various aspects of sustainability that relate to local government, including energy, local ordinances and policies, planning, grant administration, regional sustainability networks, community outreach, and environmental issues. The selected candidate will be expected to lead the Sustainability Program with a high degree of autonomy, and should be organized, deadline oriented, collaborative, and driven to achieve positive team outcomes. Key tasks for this position will Establishing a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Target for City operations;Managing a Solar Energy Feasibility Study for City Facilities;Developing a Climate Action Plan for the City;Developing strategies to improve City resiliency to sea-level rise and coastal flooding with public works and utilities staff;Managing grants and project management for environmental studies;Community outreach and managing the Citys citizen Sustainability Committee;Public speaking in City Board meetings and community events.Education:
